There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to. This page explains why.
What we do not use
No advertising cookies. No tracking pixels. No third party analytics that profile you across sites. No social media embeds that phone home. Nothing on this site follows you to another one.
That is why you are not being interrupted by a consent banner. Under UK and EU law, consent is required for non-essential cookies, and we do not set any.
What we do use
Your cart, in local storage
When you add an item to your cart, it is saved in your own browser using local storage under the key steelwood-cart. This is what lets your cart survive a page refresh. It stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is not sent to us until you start checkout.
Clearing your browser's site data for steelwood.co will empty it. So will using the remove buttons in the cart.
Stripe, during payment
When you continue to payment you are taken to Stripe's own hosted checkout page. Stripe sets cookies there that are strictly necessary for processing the transaction and for fraud prevention. Those cookies are set by Stripe on Stripe's domain and are governed by Stripe's own privacy policy, not this one.
Security and load balancing
Our host, Vercel, may set strictly necessary cookies to route requests and to protect the site from abuse. These do not track you across websites and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Managing browser storage
Every major browser lets you view and clear cookies and local storage, usually under privacy or site settings. Blocking storage for this site will stop your cart persisting between page loads, but the rest of the site will keep working.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or any non-essential storage, we will ask for your consent first and update this page before doing so.
